Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 11, 2026

NowAskJesus (“we,” “us,” “our”) is operated by Lifestand Inc. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use nowaskjesus.com (the “Service”), how we handle it, and the choices you have.

We built NowAskJesus to be a private space for honest questions. Because of the personal nature of what people bring here, we have written this policy in plain language. If anything is unclear, contact us at support@nowaskjesus.com.

The short version

  • Your questions are never published, shared with other users, or sold.
  • Your questions are processed by an artificial intelligence service to generate each answer.
  • If you visit without an account, we do not store the text of your questions on our servers.
  • If you are a member, your current conversation is saved to your account so your session can continue; starting a new session clears it.
  • We use trusted third-party services for hosting, payments, email, and analytics, each of which handles limited data as described below.
  • You can ask us to delete your data at any time at support@nowaskjesus.com.

Information we collect

Questions and conversations. When you ask a question, the text you type is transmitted securely to our AI provider, xAI, which generates the scripture-grounded response. What we store depends on whether you have an account:

  • Visitors without an account: We do not store the text of your questions on our servers. We use a browser cookie to count how many free questions you have used (a number only — not the questions themselves). This cookie expires after 30 days.
  • Members: Your current conversation (questions and answers) is stored with your account so that your session can continue where you left off. Starting a new session permanently deletes the previous conversation from our systems. We do not maintain a long-term archive of your past conversations.

Questions sent to xAI are handled under xAI’s own privacy practices, described at x.ai/legal/privacy-policy.

Account information. If you create an account or membership, we collect your name, email address, username, and membership level. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not receive or store your full card number. Stripe’s privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.

Prayer Wall posts. If you choose to post to the Prayer Wall, your post is visible to other visitors as described at the time of posting. Please do not include information in a public post that you wish to keep private.

Shared prayers. If you use the “Send Prayer” feature, we send the answer (and optionally your question and note) by email to the addresses you provide. Only use this feature with the consent of the recipient.

Email and newsletter data. If you sign up for our emails, download our free guide, or become a member, we store your email address and send you messages through our email service provider, Brevo. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. Members on qualifying plans may also receive our weekly Sunday Prayer email; contact us at support@nowaskjesus.com if you would like to stop receiving it.

Blog comments. If you leave a comment on our blog, we collect the name and email address you provide, the comment itself, and your IP address and browser information (used for spam detection). Your name and comment are displayed publicly with the post; your email address is not published. An anonymized hash of your email address may be shared with the Gravatar service to check whether you have a profile picture there; Gravatar’s privacy policy is at automattic.com/privacy. Approved comments and their metadata are retained so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments.

Support email. If you email support@nowaskjesus.com, we keep the correspondence so we can help you. Our email is hosted on Google Workspace.

Forms. If you submit a form on our site (for example, to download our free guide), we store your submission (name, email, and any message) so we can deliver what you requested and provide support. We do not use form submissions for purposes you haven’t agreed to.

Technical and usage data. Like nearly all websites, our hosting provider maintains standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) for a limited period for security and operations. If you log in as a member, WordPress sets cookies to keep you signed in and remember your preferences; these are essential to the Service. We use Google Analytics to understand how the Service is used; it sets cookies and collects usage statistics. You can learn how Google uses this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

How we use information

We use the information above to: provide answers to your questions; operate memberships, billing, and question limits; send emails you have requested; respond to support requests; keep the Service secure and prevent abuse; understand how the Service is used so we can improve it; and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share the content of your questions with advertisers, and we do not use the content of your questions for advertising.

A note on the nature of this Service

Questions asked on NowAskJesus may touch on your beliefs, health, relationships, or emotional life. We treat all question content as sensitive: it is never published, never shared with other users, and never sold.

NowAskJesus is a tool for reflection and encouragement. It is not a substitute for pastoral care, professional counseling, or emergency services. Responses are generated by artificial intelligence and grounded in scripture; they are not the literal word of Jesus.
