This NowAskJesus Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and handle your information. NowAskJesus (“we,” “us,” “our”) is operated by Thom McFadden, doing business as Lifestand.

The short version
- Your questions are never published, shared with other users, or sold.
- Your questions are processed by an artificial intelligence service to generate each answer.
- If you visit without an account, your conversation is kept on our servers for up to 30 days so it can continue across your free questions, and it is moved into your account if you sign up.
- If you are a member, your conversations are saved to your account, and we create short summaries of them so later answers can reflect what you have already shared.
- You can permanently erase everything we have stored at any time from your Membership Account page.
- We use trusted third-party services for hosting, payments, email, analytics, and advertising measurement, each of which handles limited data as described below.
- We use the Meta Pixel to measure our Facebook advertising. It is told when certain actions happen on our site, but it never receives what you write.
- You can ask us to delete your data at any time at support@nowaskjesus.com.
Information we collect
Questions and conversations. When you ask a question, the text you type is transmitted securely to our AI provider, xAI, which generates the scripture-grounded response. What we store depends on whether you have an account:
- Visitors without an account: So that your free questions can form one continuing conversation, we store that conversation (your questions and our answers) on our servers, linked to a random identifier kept in a browser cookie. If you choose to tell us what to call you, we store that name with it. We also use a cookie to count how many free questions you have used. The conversation is kept for up to 30 days after your last question and is then deleted automatically. If you create an account during that time, the conversation and name are moved into your account and handled as described for members below. We do not create summaries of conversations from visitors without an account.
- Members: Your conversations (questions and answers) are stored with your account. When a conversation ends, our AI provider creates a short summary of it — a few sentences plus topic labels — which may include details you shared, such as a family member’s name or the situation you were walking through. Recent summaries are included with your later questions so answers can gently reflect what you have shared before, rather than starting over each time. Your conversations and summaries are private to your account, are never shown to other users, and are never used for advertising. You can permanently erase all of them at any time from your Membership Account page. We deliberately limit what summaries record: if a conversation touches on self-harm or personal crisis, the summary notes only that you were walking through a difficult season, without preserving the details.
Questions sent to xAI are handled under xAI’s own privacy practices, described at x.ai/legal/privacy-policy.
Account information. If you create an account or membership, we collect your name, email address, username, and membership level. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not receive or store your full card number. Stripe’s privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
Prayer Wall posts. If you choose to post to the Prayer Wall, your post is visible to other visitors as described at the time of posting. Please do not include information in a public post that you wish to keep private.
Shared prayers. If you use the “Send Prayer” feature, we send the answer (and optionally your question and note) by email to the addresses you provide. Only use this feature with the consent of the recipient.
Email and newsletter data. If you sign up for our emails, download our free guide, or become a member, we store your email address and send you messages through our email service provider, Brevo. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. Members on qualifying plans may also receive our weekly Sunday Prayer email; contact us at support@nowaskjesus.com if you would like to stop receiving it.
Blog comments. If you leave a comment on our blog, we collect the name and email address you provide, the comment itself, and your IP address and browser information (used for spam detection). Your name and comment are displayed publicly with the post; your email address is not published. An anonymized hash of your email address may be shared with the Gravatar service to check whether you have a profile picture there; Gravatar’s privacy policy is at automattic.com/privacy. Approved comments and their metadata are retained so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments.
Support email. If you email support@nowaskjesus.com, we keep the correspondence so we can help you. Our email is hosted on Google Workspace.
Forms. If you submit a form on our site (for example, to download our free guide), we store your submission (name, email, and any message) so we can deliver what you requested and provide support. We do not use form submissions for purposes you haven’t agreed to.
Technical and usage data. Like nearly all websites, our hosting provider maintains standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) for a limited period for security and operations. If you log in as a member, WordPress sets cookies to keep you signed in and remember your preferences; these are essential to the Service. We use Google Analytics to understand how the Service is used; it sets cookies and collects usage statistics. You can learn how Google uses this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Advertising measurement (Meta Pixel). We advertise on Facebook and Instagram, and we use the Meta Pixel, a tool provided by Meta Platforms, Inc., to measure that advertising and show our ads to people likely to find NowAskJesus helpful. The pixel tells Meta when you view a page, receive your first answer, open the checkout page, or start a free trial or membership (with the plan price). It never receives the text of your questions or our answers, the topic you choose, or the name you give us. Meta receives standard technical information such as your IP address and browser details, sets its own cookies, and may connect this activity to a Facebook or Instagram account you are logged in to. Meta handles this data under its own privacy policy, at facebook.com/privacy/policy. You can manage how Meta uses this information in your ad preferences at facebook.com/adpreferences, or limit it by blocking cookies in your browser.
How we use information
We use the information above to: provide answers to your questions; operate memberships, billing, and question limits; send emails you have requested; respond to support requests; keep the Service secure and prevent abuse; understand how the Service is used so we can improve it; measure and improve our advertising; and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share the content of your questions with advertisers, and we do not use the content of your questions for advertising.
A note on the nature of this Service
Questions asked on NowAskJesus may touch on your beliefs, health, relationships, or emotional life. We treat all question content as sensitive: it is never published, never shared with other users, and never sold.
NowAskJesus is a tool for reflection and encouragement. It is not a substitute for pastoral care, professional counseling, or emergency services. Responses are generated by artificial intelligence and grounded in scripture; they are not the literal word of Jesus.
